MiSD 2017 (Manipal International Symposium on Design) has been conceptualised as an annual international forum on Design aimed at bringing together like-minded scholars, professionals and students from allied Design fields such as (but not limited to) Architecture, Interior Design, Product Design, Fashion Design, Media and Communications, Engineering & Technology.
As the first of this series, the 2017 Symposium will address a pertinent issue “Sustainable Living: Past, Present & Future” and it’s multi-dimensional impact on Design and Identity(ies). Sustainable living is an emerging concept in today’s globalised society. The two-days-long session, will focus on sustainable practices in the context of urban living, to better understand the historical relevance and emerging trends of such attitudes in design. The session will be a platform for established and emerging researchers to share, exchange and discuss innovative ideas in design, planning, sustainable construction technologies, and materials.
The main topic for EXPO 2020 is Sustainability and Dubai as the proud host is making a huge impact! Under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the city has taken major steps to practice sustainability and to effectively reduce the carbon foot-print by implementation of solar panels and innovations in the field of design and architecture. Dubai is zealously working towards the title of the most Sustainable City in the world!
