Cross-cultural perspectives on Arab's gender equality: A virtual study tour, will held on Monday and Tuesday 7th and 8th March
at Flinders University Campus and the Australian Pavillion at EXPO 2020 Dubai.
The program will be live streamed to participants in Adelaide, Australia and Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The program is convened by Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Dubai and Flinders University, Adelaide
Project description
In 2020, gender inequalities continued to constrain women’s economic participation in the Arab Gulf states (World Bank, 2021). This project comprises
a virtual study tour and research project that aims to enhance cross-cultural understanding of the barriers to, and opportunities for,
effective gender diversity management.
A key aim of the project is to generate novel, nuanced understandings about the various ways in which gender
and culture intersect to shape outcomes for women in the workplace.
To this end, students and academicians from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Dubai Campus will engage with their counterparts from Flinders University, Australia
and with industry leaders in Dubai, in a series of virtual events on gender equality.
Events include online workshops, virtual networking, and virtual cultural experiences, including virtual participation in the Dubai Expo on International Women’s Day.
Taken together, the project will facilitate greater mutual awareness and understanding of gender equality in the Arab Gulf states.
